Internships and co-ops are an excellent avenue to explore careers, draw the connection between academic coursework and the workplace, as well as build your resume. Learn more.
On-Campus Jobs
There are numerous opportunities to work on campus. During the first week of classes in the Fall, the Campus Jobs Fair is held. Most on-campus jobs are posted on UMBCworks.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Many opportunities are available for student research in faculty labs in the science departments at UMBC. This research can be for credit (e.g., BIOL 499; CHEM 499, etc) or on a volunteer basis and many have monetary benefits. Go to www.umbc.edu/UGResearchOps for detail.

Student Temporary Workforce
Interested in working for various departments with a flexible schedule? Contact Career Services Center to apply.

Leadership
Visit the Office of Student Life website for information on the SGA, SEB and other student organizations to get involved and/or gain leadership experience.
Volunteer
Learn about various community service programs through The Shriver Center or the Office of Student Life.

Part-time, Temporary & Seasonal Jobs
Hundreds of part-time jobs are advertised on UMBCworks to help with college costs and to build your resume. Also check out the annual Summer & Part-Time Internship/Job Fair, usually held in February.

On-Campus Interviews

Log into UMBCworks for a list of companies coming to campus. Attend company information sessions prior to a interviews. They are an excellent way to hear about the organization from professionals who work there. These sessions are a great resource to help you with your interview. If you have been selected to interview with the organization for full-time positions, you are required to attend these sessions.
